Vintage japanese kimono shoes tutored by shoes desiger Hetty Rose

These lovely shoes were made from vintage Kimono fabric. It was a 4  days sessions spread in 4 weeks with the fantastic tutor shoes designer Hetty Rose based in London

http://www.hettyrose.co.uk/shoes/kimono-collection/

She worked really hard to make sure we understand all the way along the process of making a beautifil pair of vintage kimono fabric. It was my first time ever making a pair of shoes and I enjoyed the whole process from start to finish.

bellow are some samples of vintage kimono fabric left after we all had chosen our fabrics. It was a though decision they all look so lovely.  I was between the orange fabric  with the flowers and cranes or the blue flowering one.

This one was my choice for the shoes...

but I also bought this blue fabric as I couldn't leave it behind...maybe for a next project in the future.

a beautiful  golden pink soft leather for the inside of the shoes...

The yellow plastic shoes lasts, the insoles in between and the paper patterns...

here are the top fabric already saw and trimmed...

and here are the inside of the fabric the leather bit..I am sorry about my sewing I am not very good at it..I did this part in my sewing machine at home as I had to leave earlier that day to pick my child up at the school..I think the sewing machine at the centre would be a better one ..

again the shoes lasts and the soles spread out

bellow... the edges of the soles with the leather strings all glued up drying out a bit before we stick it together...

leathers attached to the sole  and other bits...

Attaching the fabric to the sole with little metal pins and the shape of the shoes are beginning to take form..

Heals with glue drying out and later attached

drilling the screws to the beautiful shoes to make it strong bonding...

Voila!!!

here are all the lovely shoes made by the group of 14 wonderful ladies..we took a group picture of ourselves but I am not posting this in here without their permission but I am posting their shoes instead...

some delicate ribbons in the back..

ready to go home..Hetty Rose makes everything perfect even a little bag to carry our lovely shoes home with some tissue paper underneath

after 4 weeks my shoes are  finaly home. Now just waiting for a good opportunity to put it on :)

Crazy Hat inspired by Isabella Blow Exhibition

I went last year of Isabella Blow Exhibition at the Somerset House in London..
And I aslo went to a visit to the Grant Museum of Zoology in London  with my pre-foundation class and with that came the idea to do this hat...

                                                               Hornbill bird head skull drawing

Hornbill bird head skull at Grant Museum

paper sculpture ideas- purple in front and yellow at the back - looking at this in a certain angle could remind us of a "cat eyes" -  from here came the idea of the round shapes and colours of purple and yellow to my inside and outside hat printing design...

these printings above were made using rubber band on top of fabric and then using the hot press machine. This same image was scanned into computer and then manipulated with Photoshop to design the inside of my hat...

bellow are a few printings made using hot press machine into different types of fabric using my own drawings or found objects such as feathers, rubber patterns, jute, lace..

these printings were made using my printing above of the hornbill bird head scanned into computer and manipulating it with Photoshop. So it could be printed back into paper or textile.

I used the idea from the sellotape sculpture to make a preliminary template for my hat. Next to it is a "natural sponge" from the tree in Brazil that I thought would mimic the fibres on the top of the head of the hornbill bird skull but unfortunatelly it was too thick to go into the hot press machine.

outside hat printing onto interface Vilene

I added all different sorts of things to my crazy hat...It was nice to experiment and make my own first hat...also doing this hat open up new interests for me such as textile art, print making and Photoshop into textiles.

nude collage

I have this nude that I did in my early years of figure drawing...Although it was not perfect I like it and thought of one day  develope it a bit further...last week was this day..
not sure if I like the end result but at least I tried...

April news

This is my last pastel nude for the moment...

I had my second and  last presentation for the pre-foundation class yesterday...I was a bit umprepared for the day to be honest ..it was a shame I couldn't stay  to the end to watch my colleagues presentation as I have to rush home to look after my youngest daughter that wasn't feeling well that day..still, I got a few positive and constructive feedback from my tutors and colleagues that is always welcome.
No many pictures this time...
